Got some clothes that you don’t quite fit back into yet? Want new ones? Here are some ways to use clothes for motivation.

Fat Pants!

You’ve trimmed down and you still have your old, larger pants in the closet. It’s time to say goodbye to them as you are never going to use them again.

Keeping fat pants “just in case” keeps the idea alive that you could slip back to your old ways. This is the new you, so burn that bridge (or those pants).

Some people keep their fat pants to remind them that they will never fit them again. If this is you, be sure this works for you.

Skinny Jeans!

You’ve still got to lose some before you can fit into your skinny jeans, a favourite smaller dress or another clothing item you used to wear comfortably.

Use this as a potent motivator to aim for as long as the sizing is realistic. If we’re talking size zero slacks from 20 years ago, you may need to adjust for some natural expansion. Keep your skinny jeans, pants, or whatever you call them prominent in your wardrobe ready for your goal ceremony.

A Whole New Wardrobe!

Dumping your fat pants can be a good excuse to go out and buy fabulous, brand new ones when you get to your goal. You may even pick out a pair in advance or know where you are going to shop. You certainly deserve a reward for your efforts and I’m cheering.

What clothes are you using for motivation?

Without doubt, water is our most important nutrient. In fact, seventy-five percent of you, is it. Water, that is. Your body can do without a lot of things for a long time but it can’t survive without H2O for long. More often than not, hydration is the most misunderstood and mis-managed component of our overall health-management plan. Despite the fact that keeping our body well-hydrated is a relatively easy process, many people fail to do so, thereby putting their health at significant risk.

So, if you need some convincing, here are a few reasons to give your thirsty cells a drink:

1. Dehydrated people often have stinky breath….
2. Therefore, you’re not going to get any action! Haha.
3. Drinking cold water increases our metabolic rate…
4. Which helps with fat-loss!
5. Being well-hydrated helps curb our appetite and cravings….
6. Which helps us avoid over-eating!
7. Because our blood is mostly water, being dehydrated increases the viscosity (thickness) of our blood….
8. Which means our cardiovascular system has to work much harder….
9. Which means we’re more likely to have a stroke or heart attack! 10. Because we have less blood volume (when we’re dehydrated), our heart needs to beat faster in order to deliver adequate oxygen around the body…
11. And our blood pressure will be elevated!
12. From a sporting point of view, our dehydrated body will fatigue quicker…
13. Our muscles will be weaker (they’re 75% water too)….
14. We will also be less coordinated….
15. Which means decreased sporting performance!
16. Dehydration also leads to constipation…
17. Which, ironically, makes us feel like shit (because our body is storing, not eliminating, all those toxins)!
18. It also causes headaches….
19. And lethargy….
20. And muscle cramps! Those middle-of-the-night calf cramps anybody? Ouch…
21. And vagueness and an inability to concentrate (because our brain is 90% water)!
22. This mental vagueness can affect a myriad of things: communication, driving skills, work productivity, judgment and mood….
23. Dehydration also leads to dry skin and potentially, a range of skin conditions (our skin is our largest organ and requires plenty of H2O)!
24. Dehydrated skin looks old before its time….
25. Because we’re mostly water, a chronically dehydrated body will be more susceptible to serious disease. Dehydrated organs are unhealthy organs!

Drink anyone?

I have to sign a gym membership to get fit and lose weight…Right?

Wrong!

It’s unfortunate that a lot of people believe that to exercise regularly, lose weight or to get fit and toned, they must join a gym! The aspect of just walking into a gym, let alone joining a gym can sometimes be too daunting, awkward and intimidating for many to handle.

I know as soon as I walk past a gym and see some big fellow growling while lifting weights and winking at themselves in the mirror, I get a tad creeped out!

Statistically speaking, it is well known fact that a lot of people who do join a gym, will go maybe once or twice and come to the decision that it’s either too hard, or too threatening of an environment…and never return!

Meanwhile they are still unfit and could be stuck in a contract, paying off a gym membership that never gets used!

You know you want to improve your health and fitness? Your clearly motivated enough to want to take some action to achieving your goals?

Great!

Because with the right knowledge, attitude and motivation, there are no excuses for not keeping up a regular exercise routine!

Ipswich has a great selection of local parks. My personal favourite is Limestone Park! However, all parks around the area are well maintained and most have suitable lighting to be used at all times of the day!

So the Winter kilo’s have all ready started creeeping on…What’s the best exercise for weight loss I hear you ask?

1. The BEST exercise is the one you do regularly!

If you just can’t come at pumping iron but you love a run, then aerobic exercise is the best exercise for you! Don’t force yourself to do something you hate. You’re more likely to stick with your exercise program if you enjoy being active!

Every time you move, you are burning calories. As you build your fitness, cardio exercise gets easiler so you can move faster and burn even more calories!

2. If you’ve got time for one exercise session a week, COMBINE weights and cardio!

If you manage to do an aerobic exercise session like running just once a week, you’ll improve your cardiovascular fitness and burn calories while you move. However, due to your limited activity routine you’ll miss out on opportunties to strengthen muscles and potentially grow them.

Add a few step-ups, squats, push-ups and lunges to the end of your cardio workout. These targeted exercises will help tone muscles and create a better shape….(hellllllo sexy toned summer body!!)

3. If you exercise more than once a week, make one or more sessions a RESISTANCE TRAINING workout!

I’ve saved the best answer until last. A combined weekly routine of cardio and weight training is the best for weight loss. The aerobic exercise chews through calories and the resistance workouts build metabolically active muscle.

When you’ve got more muscle you automatically burn more calories every minute of every day. You’ll achieve breakthrough results when you combine both kinds of exercise.

The most effective exercise for weight loss = A combination of weights and cardio!

If you still find it a challenge to start a resistance training routine, I’m here to help! A Personal Trainer is the best person show you how to do exercises safely and get the most out of the effort you put in!

STILL believe that there is some magic pill or quick fix to losing those unwanted kilos? It would be convenient. But is it worth it?

Check out what those fad diets and quick fixes are really doing to your body!

Rapid Weight-Loss: The Idea and the Reality

1. It rarely works over the long-term.

2. That is, most people (more than 95%) who lose weight rapidly, regain it at some stage.
3. It makes you look old!
4. Rapid weight-loss does not equal rapid fat-loss.
5. A person losing a vast amount of weight in a short time frame (say, 2-5 kilos per week) is losing more water and muscle than they are fat. Lighter does not always equal leaner.
6. When that person regains the weight (and they usually do), they will have more fat and less muscle than when they started.

7. In other words, rapid weight-loss is a very effective way to lose muscle, get dehydrated and change your body composition for the worst.
8. When the extreme dieter finds him or herself back at their original (pre-diet) weight with less muscle and more fat, they will also have a slower metabolism (than they had pre weight-loss/gain) because muscle is metabolically active.
9. In other words, rapid weight-loss screws with your metabolism. Badly.
10. Most (maybe all?) rapid weight-loss plans are not mentally, emotionally, physically or practically maintainable. So why start?
11. People who ‘sell’ such programs and products understand that, when it comes to the very emotional matter of weight-loss, some people will believe and buy anything. Desperate people are easy to manipulate and take advantage of.
12. The optimal rate to lose weight is about one percent of our body-weight per week. 120 kilo = 1.2 kilos per week. 80 kilos = 0.8 kilos per week. 200lbs = 2lbs per week. And so on.

www.craigharper.com.au

Get out of the quick fix mindset. Let’s face it, you’ve probably tried it all ready and know it’s not going to work!

Contact Jess today on 0402 721 283 and lose your unwanted kilo’s safely and effectively – for the long term!

You Only Live Once!

Life’s too short to let unhealthy habits limit your potential!

He’s excited to be eating because he has a food mantra, “Try new things!”

Is Your Food Range Too Narrow?

As a kid, I never ate asparagus, rocket, balsamic vinegar, pinenuts, squash, and many other foods because Mum didn’t serve them. I loved her food, but it was a narrow variety. I’m now eating a wider range of foods and introducing new foods, almost every week.

Expanding your choices for more flavours and choice

Adding new fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices and combinations to your eating Plan is a way to keep your motivation just as fresh as your food choices.

This week when you go to the supermarket, say to yourself, “I’m going to try something new”. Don’t worry about cooking the perfect cuisine, just jump in and have a go at experiencing a new flavour, taste or mouth feel.

You may surprise yourself at how much you like new tastes and wonder why you have been missing out. It all helps keep your Plan on Target!

Why exercise? Why manage your weight?

Because nothing could be more important than building a better you!!

When you begin a program of self-improvement you’re taking the first steps toward a happier, healthier life. You’ll look better and feel better – both mentally and physically, from the start!

Of course it’s not going to be easy, but be confident that you’ll get there if you keep your attitude positive and stay motivated until you’ve accomplished what you set out to do.

This means having a plan, and not just for what you’re going to achieve but also how you’ll achieve it. A large part of your success will come from focusing on the positive aspects of your life.

Realise that your progress will be gradual. What seems like a very big challenge is really a series of smaller tasks, and each task has to be completed before you can move on to the next. Congratulate yourself every time you complete one of them.

Learn to look in the mirror every day and see the improvements you’ve made. Don’t be critical, but instead look for signs of the new you emerging. See what you’ve already accomplished.

Learn how your body works. Read about how you process food and build muscle strength. It will help you understand the way your exercise and weight management activities are working for you.

Keep records that include the effort you put into your program, not just the statistics of weight and kilojoules but a diary of what you’ve done for yourself each day. It will make interesting reading as you enjoy your progress.

Look around and really see your surroundings. Don’t just walk through your neighborhood; experience the streets, the homes and the people. Realise how amazing it is to see, hear, feel, smell and taste.

Everybody is really good at something. Find what it is that you do well and enjoy doing and share it with others. It could be a sport or perhaps expertise in something technical or mechanical.

Take time each day to appreciate what you already have – health, a home, friends, colleagues at work, books…everything! It’s so much better than wasting time and energy wanting what you don’t have or envying others with more.

Surround yourself with positive people who want to improve themselves and are willing to work towards their goals. Don’t waste your valuable time on those who are constantly complaining or criticising!

And finally, be persistent! Work toward success until you get it, and keep looking for ways to improve the things you do. Focus on what needs to be done, and don’t beat yourself up if you experience a setback…just work harder next time!

Who checked out the Biggest Loser Finale last night? What amazing transformations!

It’s not the only big finale on this week though…

Today marks the last FIVE days of the Boot Camps Australia Ipswich and YOLO Mobile Personal Training Ipswich Twelve Week Challenge!!

All Challengers have achieved INCREDIBLE results. Their attitude, determination and commitment to their training and nutrition has been very exciting and inspiring to be apart of!

Make the most of the last few days team and keep working hard!

Overeat over Easter? You’re not alone.

But don’t worry, you don’t need to go on a detox. There is a better way to get your eating back on Target.

No Need To Go On A Detox!

After several days of splurging, you may be tempted to opt for several days of a detox program to clean out your system.

But if your detox involves more than one day of liquid-only, soup-only or salad-only or some other potion, your efforts to eat clean will backfire.

After 24 hours on a much lower calorie intake your metabolic rate will drop by around 5%. I want you to maximise your metabolism, not see it decline.

Press Your Nutrition Reset Button!

When your computer memory overloads or your screen freezes, you press the reset button to start a fresh.

You can do this for eating too. After an over-indulgent day, there is no point in stressing, just decide to start fresh, get back onto nutrient rich eating and pick up where you left off!

Eat Light For A Day!

If you feel you need to balance out excess Extras by eating less, then eat light for a day to reset your nutrition. Salad at lunch and soup for dinner are great choices.

You’ll be amazed at how a day of light eating helps you reset your eating and your motivation. If you need to press Reset, do it now!
